Watching the Boats Leave

Shana G. St-Onge. Anne-Marie André
October 17, 2016
Uashat mak Mani-Utenam

Shana G. St-Onge and her aunt Anne-Marie walk along the beach. Anne-Marie is from Shefferville. She works in Uashat and her house is always full of people. A door in the back fence gives access to a small road that leads to Sept-Îles Bay. With a heavy heart, Anne-Marie stands where her ancestors once set sail to fish offshore and sees cargo ships "leaving with the territory to bring it to the other side". Between walks with her niece Shana, she returns north towards Shefferville, where there are still campsites.

Transcript

On the shores of the Sept Îles Bay, a small path is bordered on either side by tall grass. In front of the water, trees stand in the sunset. Shana and her aunt are walking along the path. They turn around and take a small path between the trees, where the camera is placed.
