Nature is generous, but it can’t meet all the needs of northern communities, whose way of life is increasingly based on the South. Where there are no roads, goods arrive by boat, but only from July to September: nonperishable food, construction materials and even trucks. The rest of the year, fresh goods and food are transported by plane and their weight weighs heavily on the price charged. People usually buy supplies from the Coop, a huge store where they sell everything, and wait for summer and the return of the boats for special deliveries.
